“Today’s story takes place not just long ago, but at the beginning of time. In the beginning, there was nothing. Nothing but darkness! Cover your eyes and imagine darkness everywhere – no peeking!! There was only darkness, and God. Jump up, tall and mighty and powerful like God, and look out over all the darkness. All this darkness didn’t seem suitable to God, so he had a plan to give it life and shape. Tap your head with a great plan to create the world, like God. Now because God is so powerful and mighty, he took only 7 days to create the world. How many? 7! Let’s count that out with jumping jacks! 1,2,3,4,5,6,7!
Crouch back down into the darkness. On day 1, God said “Let there be light.”
Then the sun popped right up into the sky – jump up, and up, and up, bright like the sun! Sunshine filled the sky!
God separated the light from the darkness. Jump to one side and be the light- bright, bright, bright! Then jump to the other side, crouch down low, and be the darkness.
Once more!
Jump up to be the light! Jump! Jump! Jump! And jump down to the other side to be the darkness. God called the light “Day” and the darkness “night,” and that was the first day.
Day 2! Jump up and do two jumping jacks – 1,2! On the second day, God created a great space surrounding the earth. Get down low, and with your arms, make a great big space that surrounds the earth. This space was called the sky. Here’s where we can fly kites – jump up and pretend to fly your kite, and fly airplanes, fly your airplane! And the sky is where the clouds float. Float around like a big, white, fluffy cloud. And this was the second day, and god saw that it was good……
