This day He will restore me with good for the reproach that He has brought against me
This day He will restore me with good for the reproach that He has brought against me
VERSE:
It may be that the LORD will look on mine affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day. (2 SAMUEL 16:12 KJV)
EXPLANATION:
The verse we are going to meditate on today is 2 Samuel 16:12 “…the Lord has seen my lowliness and said, “This day He will restore me with good for the reproach that He has brought against me. (David)”
All reproaches turn into good. All the valleys of weeping will become fountains. This is the great truth that David discovered in his life. Beloved, the Lord will surely command you days of comfort and days of peace, commensurate with the days of your humiliation and the years of suffering.
When David fled the city to escape Absalom’s hand, Shimei cursed David terribly. He threw stones against him and insulted him. Seeing that, David’s heart must have been broken. But what did David do? He put all the worries and burdens on the Lord saying that ‘the Lord will turn all these reproaches into good.’ Do you have the vision that was in David’s eyes? Do you have faith that the Lord will turn all my reproaches into good?
There was a God-fearing family and it was enough to start doing family prayer in that house. A wicked woman next door will blaspheme terribly. When they say ‘Hallelujah’ she shouted ‘Aiyo’. If they sing she cried. She scolded very obnoxiously, very badly. But they patiently endured that the Lord will turn all our reproaches into good.
It’s only been a few days. By then, the woman who insulted them had a heart attack. The doctors saw her and said you are very close to death. He ordered her to remain calm without getting angry or speak angry words. Since then, her unwanted talks got reduced . Not only that, ‘the Lord raised the godly neighbour many times in the presence of that woman. Their business flourished. Their children progressed greatly. The Lord turned every reproach into good for them’. What a wonderful testimony!
Do you bear the blame? , do you pass through shame and suffering? Here! The Lord gives you a promise: “The Lord will give good; our land will also give its fruit.” (Psalm 85:12). “The Lord redeems Jacob and delivers him from the hand of one who is mightier than himself…My people will be satisfied with the goodness that I give,” says the Lord. ( Jeremiah 31:11,14 ) .
And in Romans 8:28 the scripture says “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, who are called according to his purpose.” Therefore, do not be disturbed by reproaches and insults, but cast your burdens on God. He will make all things perfect for you.
PRAYER:
Heavenly God of love! Thank you Lord for this promise to me today. I believe that you will bring benefits in my life instead of reproaches and insults. I know that all things work together for good to those who love you. Therefore, I will not be disturbed by the reproaches and insults that come in my life, and I will put my burdens on You. You will guide me. I pray in Jesus name Good Father, Amen!
