John 2:24-25 means Jesus knew the right person to do his job (Ephesians 1:5). He does not need any testimony from anyone to prove the characters or actions of a believer. Jesus Christ is able to quickly discern the good and wicked person. He knew what is in the hearts of all mankind (Hebrews 4:13). He knew what everyone think and feel because he is God (Isaiah 46:9; 1 John 3:19-20). Jesus Christ is omniscience (Job 37:16; Psalm 147:5; 1 Samuel 2:3). There is nothing that he does not know and he has great understanding in everything (Isaiah 55:9; Job 28:24; Psalm 139:4).

Many people may have been willing to undertake the work of the gospel for Jesus Christ but Jesus Christ will not choose everyone to do his work. Jesus knew all their actions including those that are done publicly and secretly. Jesus only entrust his work to 12 apostles whom he had chosen. These 12 apostles spread the gospels to as many places as they can so that the people of the whole world can come to know Jesus Christ. He will lead the one he has chosen for his work to do his will (Romans 8:28-30; Philippians 2:13; Ephesians 1:11). He knew the purpose of a person for doing his work, whether it is for their own selfish benefits or to really serve God. This makes Jesus suitable to become the judge of mankind on the judgment day (Romans 2:16; Ecclesiastes 3:17). Jesus Christ will judge everyone according to their words and deeds on the Day of Judgment (Romans 2:6; Job 34:11).

According to John 2:24, the people believed in Jesus after they saw him performing signs and miracles. Jesus knew what sort of faith the people in the crowd had. He knew how much perseverance they had and whether they will persist in clinging on in believing in him. The parable of the seed in Matthew 13:18-23 gives an illustration of the different types of faith in the believers. The first type of believer will lose the message after hearing it because he does not understand it. The second type of believer will only believe in Jesus for a short time because of troubles and persecutions. The third type of believer will walk away from Christ because they are concerned about the worries of their lives. The fourth type of believer is a good believer who produces 100, 60 or 30 times of fruits after believing in Jesus Christ (Matthew 13:1-8; Matthew 13:18-23).

Each of us has different gifts from the Holy Spirit. Every Christian has at least one gift from the Holy Spirit. The gifts from the Holy Spirit are given to the believers for the edification and building up of the churches. You must practice your gift by using it to serve God in the church before you can be good in that area. For example, if you have a gift in teaching, you must go through training such as taking bible study classes before you can be good in this area. You can serve as a teacher at the bible study class in the church if you have a gift in teaching. In this way, you will not waste away the gift that God gives you. There are 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit including word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, divers kinds of tongues, and the interpretation of tongues (1 Corinthians 12:1-11).
