Praise the Lord – Let All Creation Worship Him”
Have you ever looked at nature — the skies, the mountains, the wind, the birds — and felt a sense of wonder? Nature has a voice. It speaks loudly, though not in words. It reflects the beauty and glory of our Creator, the Lord God.
In Tamil scriptures and songs, we often find verses like:
“கர்த்தரைப் போற்றி, போற்றிப் புகழ்ந்து என்றென்றைக்கும் அவரைத் துதியுங்கள்.”
(Praise the Lord, exalt Him, and glorify Him forever and ever.)
This beautiful call to worship reminds us that every part of creation is made to glorify God — not just humans, but even nature itself. From rain and fire to trees and animals, everything exists to honour the Creator.
Let’s take a few moments to understand how and why all of creation praises the Lord, and how we, too, can join in this divine symphony of worship.
Creation Is Not Silent
When we read these lines:
“மழையே, பனியே; மின்னல்களே, மேகங்களே; மலைகளே, குன்றுகளே…”
(Rain, snow, lightning, clouds, hills and mountains…)
It may seem poetic, but there is deep meaning here. The Bible, especially Psalm 148 and the book of Daniel, teaches us that everything God created has a purpose, and one of the greatest purposes is to bring glory to God.
You don’t have to be a priest or pastor to praise God. Even the stars in the sky and the flowers on the ground are part of God’s choir.
Worship Is Not Limited to People
Often, we think worship is something only humans do — like praying, singing, or going to church. But this list reminds us:
Fire and heat praise God
Cold weather and summer glorify Him
Night and day, light and darkness
Birds and animals, wild and tame
All of them exist in obedience to God. Their very being, their beauty, their timing — all declare the greatness of the One who made them.
Nature Obeys, So Should We
The seasons change on time. The sun rises and sets without delay. Trees grow, rivers flow, and birds sing — all because God designed them to do so.
Then comes the question: If even nature obeys God, shouldn’t we, who are created in His own image, do even more?
Let us not wait for perfect circumstances to worship. If a storm can praise God, we can praise Him even in difficult times.
A Personal Moment in Nature
I remember once sitting near a quiet river during a personal struggle. Life felt confusing. But as I sat there, watching the water gently flow and hearing the birds sing in the trees, I suddenly felt peace.
It was as if God was speaking through nature, saying,
“I am still here. I am still in control. Just like this river flows, your life too will move forward.”
That day, I didn’t say much. But in my heart, I began to praise — silently, honestly. It was nature that reminded me to lift my eyes to God.
Who Is Called to Praise God?
This call to worship includes everyone:
மனுமக்களே – All people
The Lord’s servants
Spirits and souls of the righteous
Those with pure and humble hearts
God doesn’t look for perfect people. He looks for genuine hearts. Whether rich or poor, young or old, educated or not — anyone can praise God. And everyone should.
Why Praise Matters
You might wonder, “Why should I praise God when life is hard?”
Here’s the truth: Praise changes our focus.
Instead of looking at our problems, we start looking at God’s power. Instead of feeling alone, we feel connected to the Creator.
Also, praise brings peace, strength, and even healing. It’s not about ignoring our struggles, but reminding ourselves:
“My God is bigger than my situation.”
How to Praise God Daily
You don’t need to wait for Sunday or for a worship leader. You can praise God in your everyday life. Here’s how:
Start your day with a small prayer – “Thank You, Lord, for a new day.”
Listen to worship songs – Even while travelling or cooking.
Look at nature with wonder – Thank God for rain, trees, sky, birds.
Read Psalms aloud – Like Psalm 148 or 150.
Say aloud: “Praise the Lord” – In any language, from your heart.
Make praise a lifestyle, not just an activity.
Let’s Join Creation in Praise
Every element of creation — the wind, stars, rivers, and animals — is already praising God. The question is: Will you join them?
Let your home be a place of worship. Let your words be filled with gratitude. Let your heart sing, even when your voice is tired.
Because the One who created the universe, the One who keeps it all running, is worthy of your praise — today, tomorrow, and forever.
“கர்த்தரைப் போற்றி, போற்றிப் புகழ்ந்து என்றென்றைக்கும் அவரைத் துதியுங்கள்.”
