Ten Commandments

You shall have no other gods before me.

This commandment emphasizes the monotheistic belief in one God.
You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them.

This commandment prohibits the worship of idols or graven images.
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

This commandment instructs against using the name of God in a disrespectful or false manner.
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God.

This commandment designates the Sabbath (usually Saturday for Jews and Sunday for Christians) as a day of rest and worship.
Honor your father and your mother.

This commandment emphasizes the importance of respecting and obeying one’s parents.
You shall not murder.

This commandment prohibits the taking of another person’s life.
You shall not commit adultery.

This commandment forbids sexual relations outside of marriage.
You shall not steal.

This commandment prohibits theft or taking someone else’s property without permission.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

This commandment condemns lying or giving false testimony in legal matters.
You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor.

This commandment warns against coveting, or desiring, what others have, whether it be their possessions, spouse, or anything else.
These commandments are foundational to the moral and ethical teachings of these religions and provide a framework for how believers are expected to conduct themselves in their relationships with God and fellow humans. Different religious denominations may interpret and apply these commandments in slightly different ways, but the core principles remain consistent.
